Featured Area: Pragmatic Version Control Using Subversion
If you visit my page directly instead of reading my journal in an aggregator, you probably noticed the 'tsunami donate link' I had posted in the upper right hand corner of the page.
That spot seems to work well as a 'featured area', so I've decied to keep using it for that purpose. When it changes, I'll post a blog entry about it. I intend to use it for light-hearted as well as serious issues, items I want to comment on, or just extra visibility for something or someone I want to draw attention to. No guarantees on topic, frequency, duration, or anything like that, but I plan to rotate it regularly with something that might be interesting or important to my readers. Right now its a new book.
My colleague Mike Mason at ThoughtWorks has just added a cool entry to the Pragmatic Programmer bookshelf series: Pragmatic Version Control Using Subversion. If you don't know what Subversion is, its a relatively new, open source version control tool intended to replace the now aging CVS.
Several people I know have read the book and raved about it. I plan to get a copy as soon as I clear some room in my reading list. Note that Amazon is still showing it as unreleased, but you can get it over at the Pragmatic Programmer site now. A nice feature of their site is that you can purchase a pdf version too (this is what I did with the ruby book from the series).
If you've already read it, please share your thoughts with the rest of us, and I will do the same after I get my hands on a copy.
